OUR MISSION

The partners of Hooey Remus LLP are experienced professionals committed to helping our clients achieve their objectives in a timely and cost effective manner. We believe that integrity, expertise and prompt, personal service are the hallmarks of a premier law firm and we pride ourselves on providing expert legal advice at a reasonable cost.

OUR HISTORY

The Hooey Remus law partnership was founded in November, 1992. Although we are a young firm, each of our partners has had considerable experience with major Toronto firms. For more complete biographical information and a description of our individual practices, please see our People page.

On a bright, sunny, Monday, November 2, 1992, Wayne Hooey, Bill Remus, Don Cameron, Brian Fraser and Greg Mallough, together with our senior conveyancer and general manager, Amar Singh, opened the doors for the new Hooey Remus practice at Suite 400, One University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario.

Our other founding partner, Bruce Drake, had to complete other practice commitments before joining us on February 1, 1993.

All of the founding partners and Amar had formerly practised at Lang Michener, a large national law firm. Except for Bruce, all of the others had also at some time previously been at Lash Johnston, a respected Toronto law firm which merged with Lang Michener in 1985.

In August, 1993, Tom Jamieson joined us from Lang Michener.

In 1995, we were privileged to congratulate Donald Cameron on his appointment as a justice of the Ontario Court (General Division), now known as the Superior Court of Justice.

Effective February 1, 1997, Wayne Hooey became counsel to the firm and we are pleased that he still continues with us.

On Friday, November 1, 2002, we all gathered together for an Anniversary Dinner to celebrate completion of our first decade as a firm.

November 3, 2003 brought us Stephen Brett who had worked with us at Lang Michener. Steve continues his real estate, corporate and estate practice with us.

On January 1, 2005, Arthur Angus joined us to continue his corporate, wills and estates practice at Hooey Remus. Arthur had previously practised at Miller Thomson LLP and in association with Black, Sutherland LLP.

Effective January 3, 2006, Hooey Remus became a limited liability partnership under the name Hooey Remus LLP.
